A team of four girls from Girl Scout Troop 30235 in Effingham County have worked hard to
obtain their Silver Award during 2025.
Their project addressed the mindset and mental health of middle school girls through artwork
and positive words of affirmation. As middle school students, the scouts recognize the emotions,
doubts about self-worth, and challenges that can arise while navigating a day at school. They
decided to create artwork with positive statements to hang in the girls' restrooms at South
Effingham Middle School. They spoke multiple times with Christy Brown, principal at SEMS.
Brown embraced their project, provided thought-provoking feedback, and facilitated the
placement of the art.
Their artwork was in place prior to Open House last August.
Great job in making a difference.
In Girl Scouts, girls in grades K-12 bring their dreams to life and work together to build a better
world, knowing the next opportunity to stand up, speak up and take the lead is never far away.
The possibilities for greatness are truly endless.
